Introduction
   
Academia–Industry Linkage / Partnership is a fairly known subject over more than a century, yet inadequately perceived and vastly unexploited for the mutual benefits of all the concerned parties including society as a whole. Developing countries have tacitly exhibited this development gap when compared to developed countries. Even so called emerging economies have not traversed this development path substantially. Both education sector (especially higher education part) and industrial sector have grown numerically after the dawn of globalization era but leaving considerable scope for meaningful and sustained linkage efforts. Reasons may be different but there could be some barriers for Academia, Industry and the Government to get linked. There is a pressing need for well developed action programme to attain the desired objectives by overcoming various challenges of linkage development which are not so formidable. “The term Academia-Industry Linkage refers to interaction between all parts of the higher educational system and the industrialising economy”
     
The Objectives of the conference:

Call for Abstract and Research papers:    
Abstracts and full Research Papers are expected in the internationally accepted formats. Abstracts should be restricted up to 500 words. With title of the research paper at the top, abstracts should indicate name of the author(s) and designations, affiliation/addresses, e-mail-id and also telephone numbers. Abstracts should give brief exposure of the research paper including the need for the research, objectives, hypothesis, methodology and expected findings. Key words should be given (max five) at the end of the abstract. They should be separated by commas and arranged in alphabetic order with a full stop at the end.

The conference encourages empirical research work contributing to its objectives. Theoretical perspectives also will have due place in the conference deliberations. Case study based research papers should be in usual narrative form including appropriate analysis with data related tables, graphics and annexure. Selected research papers of this conference will be considered for publication through an edited volume that will be published by a reputed international publisher for which our efforts are in progress. The selection will be based on the quality of the papers and the suitability of the theme for the edited volume.

Manuscript should be prepared in standard A4 size paper. Contents should be typed with 1.5 spacing and single column width 1” margin at the top, bottom, left and right sides. Manuscript should be typed in 12 point Times New Roman font with page numbers at the bottom-centre of every page.

Headings of the sections/parts should be in 14 point Times New Roman font. The sub-sections headings should be in 12- point Times New Roman font. The section and sub-section headings should be bold, faced and aligned left and fully capitalized. There should be minimum 1.5 spacing between headings and the first line of new a paragraph.

Figures and Tables should be centrally placed, numbered and should be titled in bold.

For citation and references, follow the pattern usually adopted in Harvard Business Review issues. References from books, journals and edited books should be given in different formats as found in standard international research publication.

  • Institution Package’ for delegates from individual institutes of education and those of individual corporate / SMEs organizers offer 30% discount for those from foreign countries and 20% for the delegates from India. To avail this discount facility, an institute must send minimum two delegates from foreign countries and four delegates from Indian Institutions. Spot Registration will be without concession.

The Conference City
The conference city, Pune is a small replica of the Indian phenomenon of fast growth of institutions of higher education on the one hand and that of industrial belt of corporates as well as SMEs on the other hand. The city is therefore, quite appropriate to host an International Conference with the given theme. Pune has close connectivity with other prominent cities such Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai all of which have International Airports. Mumbai as close as 150km easily accessible by road also.

eminent_speakers_label.jpg Accommodation will be made available in nearby Three Star/ Four Star Hotels, the charges of per day occupancy ranges between INR 3000 to 5000 depending on single and double bed occupancy. Yashada-conference venue has accommodation available at relatively lower rates for a limited numbers of participants, who must book the required occupancy before 15th Jan 2012 by paying full charges (Rs. 3000 per day approx.). Please note, that accommodation rates are variable. On enquiry, the actual rates will be communicated for the booking of required accommodation.

Commutation in the conference city is available by passenger vehicles such as three wheeler or four wheeler. The participants have to make their own arrangements for commuting to the conference venue.

Foreign Participant’s Visa will have to be organised by the individual participant for attending the International Conference. The conference secretariat will issue invitation letters to obtain a visa to attend the conference only after the concerned participants have already paid the required conference fee.

Call for Research papers

Retailing is as old as direct exchange activity, human society evolved to satisfy consumption needs of human beings. Organized retailing however, has been more of 20th century phenomenon. In its mega scale,different formats and ' chain form' ,it's a recent development of second half of 20th century. For emerging economies, Organized Retailing is taking roots only during past 15-20 years or so.

Retailing - traditional ( small store type ) and organized one has great relevance for an individual consumer as well as for an economy as a whole. These common place activity of day to day importance however, need to be probed a fresh from business point of view as well as economy's growth point of view.

In fact, retailing has to be green and clean for material wellbeing of global mankind. Organized retailing, mainly in emerging economies has much to achieve in this respect. As a matter of fact, even as business entity, despite having ample opportunities, organized retailing has been experiencing several challenges. Organized retailers of the emerging economies would therefore ,find various measures and strategies ,evolved through systematic research quite genuine and useful.

It is with a view to serving genuine growth requirements of organized retailers along with  material well being of their customers and also to enhance academia's perception about ongoing functioning of organized retailing that a mega event of symbioses of acedemia and retailers is organized by way of aforementioned International Conference.

Publication: Proceedings  of the International Conference will be published under ISBN No.  A single author presenting multiple entries should register for each paper.

  Abstract Submission

Scholarly presentation of research papers, preferably with empirical methodology, focusing on sub themes (but not strictly limited to given subthemes ) will be preceeded by logically and clearly worded abstract up to 300 words including up to five keywords. Abstract must include the proposed title for the paper, the name of the author(s) (first name and surname, not initials), postal addresses, and email addresses of author(s) and telephone number of the lead author (if there are more authors of a research paper). Acceptance of the submitted abstracts and confirmation for preparing full research papers will be communicated to concerned researchers on or before 20th Dec. 2010

The selection comittee of the Conference will select the abstracts from total abstracts received by submission deadline and will ensure that the proposed papers are relevant to the conference.

The selected papers will be of 5000 words including title, paragraph heading, table heading, references, abstract and keywords. Harvard reference rules need to be followed for references. Papers accepted for the conference will be published in the Conference proceedings subject to author(s) registration and a payment to meet cost of publication.

All accepted papers will be reviewed by the conference expert committee and will ensure that all full papers are in line with their respective abstracts (submitted initially) and will ensure adequate standard of paper formats as given below -
